Home Loan Insurance Distributes close to $500,000 in Workers’ Comp Insurance Dividends to Local Customers

Investing in Worker Safety and Well-being Pays Off

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — April 5, 2016 — Home Loan Insurance has recently distributed close to $500,000 in workers’ compensation dividend checks to 604 local customers who have maintained safe workplaces. The checks come from Pinnacol Assurance, Colorado’s leading workers’ compensation provider and one of the insurance companies that Home Loan Insurance partners with to provide workers’ compensation solutions to local businesses in Western Colorado. This general dividend is a portion of Pinnacol’s surplus, paid to policyholders that earn it through their commitment to workplace safety and effective claims management.

Pinnacol’s board of directors declared a general dividend of $30 million. Nearly 53,000 employers throughout the state — roughly 93 percent of the company’s policyholders — will receive a dividend. Checks have been mailed and personally delivered to Western Slope businesses by Home Loan Insurance agents throughout the month of March and are still being distributed.

“We have enjoyed an extremely successful partnership with Pinnacol for over 25 years. Their dedication to improving the workplace safety and wellness of our clients has led to thousands of saved dollars for many companies on the Western Slope,” said Jamie Hamilton, CEO of Home Loan Insurance, an 118 year old local independent insurance agency in downtown Grand Junction. “We are proud to partner with Pinnacol and great organizations like HopeWest and Hilltop Health Services as well as many other companies succeeding in managing workers’ compensation risks.”

June Sip siminarHome Loan Insurance has held several safety improvement seminars for clients to attend throughout the year. These sessions cover topics like “Behavioral Based Safety Training” or “Managing Safety Through Good Hiring Practices.” The attendance of the seminars has grown steadily to where every seminar is a packed house of 40 plus managers from different companies.  “It’s good to see companies taking the initiative and using the resources that Pinnacol and Home Loan Insurance provide, and it is clearly correlated with their success managing their workers’ compensation risk,” says Jackie Ramsey, Client Services of Home Loan Insurance, who helps coordinate the events.

“This dividend is possible because of our policyholders’ commitment to the safety and well-being of their employees, Pinnacol’s financial stability and strength, and a resurgent Colorado economy,” said Phil Kalin, Pinnacol president and CEO. “We expect that this will be important support for our state’s employers as they continue to invest in their people, processes and technology, preparing them for success in the years to come.”

Dividend checks are calculated based on the policyholder’s premium size and performance. The average 2016 dividend check will be $571.

Pinnacol has issued a dividend nine times since 2005, a result of its financial health and stability. With the 2016 declaration, Pinnacol has now returned nearly $506 million in total general dividends to Colorado businesses.
